This Midweight Jersey T-shirt is hand-dyed in Kyoto by Japanese artisans who have worked with only one colour since 1915. Their ecological dyeing technique is the result of four generations in pursuit of the world's deepest shade of black. This garment features a standard fit, with signature construction details and tonal woven labels.

Since 1915, a family of textile artisans from Mibu, Kyoto has elevated black to an art form. We apply their century‑old technique to our core fabrics and silhouettes to achieve a deeper, more dimensional black that’s crafted to stay colourfast through sun, rain, and time—delivering lasting richness uncommon in modern dyeing. Each piece is garment‑dyed after construction, so the shade settles naturally over seams and panels while preserving the fabric’s hand and drape.
Depth here is built slowly by hand. Rooted in Kyoto’s montsuki tradition—the formal black historically reserved for ceremonial wear—garments are dyed in multiple stages, each pass adding measured tone to the final shade. Using natural elements—madder, indigo, tea leaves, and bark—artisans guide the dye into the fibre, not just onto the surface, preserving the hand of the fabric, the integrity of the fit, and the long‑term resilience of the colour.
